You can't go wrong with the 606's or MT21's in sand. I was out Tuesday in Wharton State Forest (NJ.) which is 99% sand and both tires perform excellent. I run the 606's and my friend Anthony the MT21's. On the flip side if you run the 606's on the hiway you need earplugs! steve

I did too, couldn't pass up a set of Metzelers for $100, so I will try them as well. Although my A3 current ride came with some 1/2 worn Gripsters, I am accustomed to the five or six sets of Maxxis 6006s that I went through on my prior KLR. I am curious as to how the Karoos will do on the twisty pavement around here, and they look approximately equal to the 6006s in dirt and gravel roads.

Ditto earplugs for street use with the D606's...but they do seem to make the KLR 20lbs lighter offroad. --Are the MT21's noticeably quieter on road?-- Been very pleased with the D606's....as the KLR has primarily seen dirt/sand, but looking to rediscover abit of that street fun that came with the stockers, without giving up too much of the newfound (over stock) tractor traction, offroad.
