Newbie question aimed at the folks that have a Tengai. I just bought a 1990 KLR650 "Tengai" with 7100 miles on it. VIN JKAKLEB1XLA00XXXX My buddy is cleaning out his garage to make room to build an airplane;-) The bike is bone stock, including original tires, battery and chain. Gas tank is clean (I mean REAL clean) runs strong and is a blast to ride. Other than the "B" in the VIN what are the differences from an "A" series KLR? I'm still reading the FAQ, what a great resource, Thank you Big Cee. Denis 90 B1 Tengai (new bike) 82 CX 500TC (uses the same battery as the KLR!) 99 Ducati ST4 (daily rider) P.S. I'm going to install some bar ends on my KLR 650. I want to leave the stock grips. Is the throttle sleeve a one piece deal and can I drill/cut the plastic with it on the bike to install the bar ends. I thought this might be an easier way to do it. Thanks. Nev.
