Finally got around to doing my doohickey on my A15 (12K miles), and it
turns out that my doohickey was already broken off and top of the thing
is gone. What do I do now? Assume the parts were mulched up in the
engine? Drain the oil and hope everything comes out? What?
Thanks for the feedback!

Filter the oil through a tight mesh filter (pantyhose works well)
and look for the piece. Otherwise I'd start fishing around and
behind the Rotor magnet, then the bottom of the case, and lastly
remove the right side cover and look in the oil pump intake screen.

inexpensive saddlebags
In preparation for my long distance trip to the "Tail of the Dragon"
in Deal's Gap TN, this September, I ordered some saddlebags from:
http://www.try-tech.com/bikes/sb_prices.htm I was pretty impressed
with the price, $112.00 (delivered), and their size, so I ordered a
set. Received them in two days, and installed them last night, and
they fit perfectly on the KLR with many adjustment options. I rode to
work (22 miles one way) with them this morning and they didn't move
around and never got in my way! They have 46 liters of total storage
and come with rain covers that you can either put around the bags, or
use inside the bag, covering your gear! I was a little concerned
about not having a saddlebag "shield" for the muffler, but these
things have a huge amount of "heat" protection incorporated to the
inner sides and bottom of the bags. As soon as I dismounted, this
morning, I checked on how hot the muffler side was, but it was only
warm to the touch. I'm still gonna get a saddlebag shield from Fred
Hink's site. So far, I'm pretty impressed with them. You can see pics
of the mounted bags at: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, then PHOTOS,
