Anyone in the area interested in getting together every now and then to work on our bikes?

Chap, I'm in Richmond and a group of us get together every now and again to wrench on our Concours. No reason why a KLR wouldn't fit in with the bunch. Which, by the way, I might ask.... you like crabs and/or camping? There's a COG ride this w/e over on the MD Eastern Shore. Billed The Crab Cakes Ride (our 6th. annual occasion), we're gonna meet at Holly Restaurant there on Rte. 50 approx. 5 miles, or so, east of the Bay Bridge around 9:00 for breakfast. We'll scoot around the shore area and will be campint that night in Quantico, MD. Sunday we'll ride a little more and wind up in Secretary, MD at the Suicide Bridge Restaurant for crab cakes, or whatever suits your fancy. I know there will be at least 1 KLR there. You're more than welcome to join us if you're so inclined. Us COGgers show no preference to what you ride, as long as you're havin' fun. Funny you should mention that... I was just talking to couple other Mid-Atlantic KLRista's about hosting a spring tech session. I don't return to DC until the 22nd, so I was thinking maybe the first or second weekend in April, but I'm totally open to any date. I can host, if it's a nice day there's plenty of space outside, else my garage is good for servicing one bike at a time. I've got all the tools for every operation on the bike, plus fun air-tools

Maybe after we're done screwing around we can harass the denizens of the city and see some monuments, park illegally and torture tourists with tunes of Tweety (how is that for alliteration?). Depending on who shows with what, I figure we could do lotsa doohickey upgrades, swingarm servicing, fork oil changing, bearing replacement, subframe upgrades, etc.etc. The only thing I don't think we could do would be a valve check/adjust, unless someone brings their bike on a trailer, so it's cold, or we do one on one of my KLR's for demonstration purposes. Anyone interested? Can I get a show of hands? Z DC A5X A12X

I have been looking around to find what people think are the hot set ups for carb jetting. Suggestions I have seen range significantly. Wild: I have seen people suggesting swithching the stock pilot jet of 40 to a 42 and replacing the main jet from a 148 to a 160 , then raising the main needle .06 to .07" with small washers. Mild: I have seen people suggesting simply richening the pilot screw setting slightly. The road most taken: I have seen people talking abouot the K&N suggestions of pilot screw 3 turns out, main jet of 136, and main needle set with e clip in middle position. The interesting: Others say to just but the KLX upgrade needle spacer and clip then tuning with the main jets, needle setting and pilot screw setting. Does anyone have experience with any of these settings. Or any suggestions for a bike at sea level with K&N filter stock air box and de tweeted muffler?
