The Castrol stuff is much better than motor oil, but motor oil works
perfectly fine as well... The filter specific stuff is tackier and so
stays on the filter longer, with motor oil, you should service the
filter more often as motor oil will run off the filter faster.

Look just below the spine of the bike, and you should see two hockey
puck looking rubber bumpers. If you look at the bottom of the tank
you'll see where there are yokes on the tank to slide onto these rubber
mounts. If the tank is really loose you might have knocked one of these
mounts off (they aren't glued on, they just fit over a nub on the
frame). The tank, even when properly installed, will still have some
play in it, probably helps lessen tank damage when you crash it. Nothing
to be worried about.
