I have two ammo boxes - that are the right size (18L X 15H X 8W) to make rear saddle bags for the bike. I do remember seeing some comments about these before but of course didn't keep them... certainly they would be quite heavy.... Has anyone mounted these on the KLR? I have a Mac-D rack that could easily support them. I am wondering what type of mounting hardware to use... I was thinking of welding a C channel to hook over the rack supports then some type of pin & Lock to secure the ammo boxes to the bike. Any suggestions or comments? Check out www.actionp.com a marine supplier . Click on accessories then look for utility case #5602. Its shown in orange but comes in army olive similar to the green plastic on my A15. They are injection molded plastic with a watertight lockable lid and are light weight and a perfect size. I ordered two from a local marine dealer for $40 each. They will bolt easily to any racks you may have. I had a set custom made from aluminum by a machinist friend. The setup is very light/strong/removable and relatively cheap. Hope this helps. I assume the pictures and all are long gone, but there was a set for sale on eBay a while back. I don't know what size they were, except that they were quite large, and were mounted on side racks that the person had built. So, I guess this means it can be done, but since they were for sale, I'm not sure it should be done...? Having said that, though, I wonder if the ammo cans would be all that much heavier than the aluminum boxes that many people do use. Like Lew & Punky, I believe. I've seen just about anything used. It's mostly a matter of "if you can figure out a way to attach it, you're good to go." I don't see any reason why you couldn't use whatever you've got that would serve the purpose... I've tried a variety of cases on different bikes. The Halliburton's are strong and very light weight. I do like the HappyTrail boxes because they open from the top. A side opening case tends to spill contents out when you open them for quick items. Search Ebay for "equipment cases, aluminum, plastic..." you will get a wide variety of options you may not have thought of. My advice is to stay away from ammo cases because they are very heavy (at least the ones made out of steel are) Good luck to ya J

Well goody for you #3, but when asked to help with the vote counting and such. aka: Judge Dredd " I am the Law" (Sorry like that movie) However, we the Judges were to report back to longrider, final results (did that) and he was to get prizes lined up, not even really sure what they were in total. I thought we had everything done, but that was last I heard of it. Am just guessing he has been busy, and hope all is resolved soon. Dooden
