Last Saturday I installed my Dual Star Radguard, Dual Star Shift lever, and Acerbis Rally hand guards (also bought from DS). On monday some dude tries to steal my bike! My neighbor sees him before he finishes his job on the ingition switch, so the guy starts running down the street pushing it. Figures out he can't outrun my neighbor pushing the bike, so he drops it in the ditch on the left side. Hit the shifter hard enough to fill it with dirt and grass and jam the foot peg, hit the Radguard hard enough to scoop dirt with the radiator shroud, and hit the hand guard hard enough to tweak the bars. But the new parts performed their functions - only damage was the tweaked bars and ignition switch, minor stuff. Lousy way to performance test your gear, but I am glad they worked well. That finger print dust gets everywhere - like dumping a toner cartridge over your bike. For what it is worth, I was impressed with the Dual Star parts. The Rad guard fit exactly - no tweaking or anything, silver powdercoat finish matches the bike and looks good. The shift lever looks like it was designed by a machinist (as opposed to the stock one, which looks like it was designed by an accountant). The hand guards took a little fitting since they are not custom made for the KLR, but seem to do a good job of protecting the levers and bar ends, and offer almost as much wind protection (with the optional spoilers) as the stock tupperware. No affiliation with Dual Star, just a happy customer. Find them at http://www.dual-star.com/. Bruce in WA Heading to the Rat Dog ride in Tillamook this weekend - anyone else going?
