Hi Folks,
what happens when I use right from the start high quality synthetic oil ? Some guys say that one should use non-synthetic oil for the first few k miles to let the engine break in. Is that ( still ) true ?

Citizen Sean,
Vey de la Cruz, master engine rebuilder, still recommends using dino for
the first 3,000 miles after he puts in rings and/or does tranny work on a
klr. On the super high tech modern bikes, I hear, you can use synthetics
from the get go.

Some of the new bikes come with a 1/2 Qt of light weight clear machine oil.
AND the shop never drains the snot just adds to it, My KLR came with it and i
made them drain it and fill it with Honda oil , Drove home 28 miles drained
it a put the good stuff in there,,,, Thats why my bikes so fast, LOL.

Hi Mike,
I half knew the answer, thanks for the reply. The same advise gets repeated again and again year after year. But the bikes are not BMW-R20s anymore...
What about Oil filter ? There's an offer for a metal screen oil filter catching all particles 35micron and up. Does that makes sense ? Maybe together with the
www.SuperPlug.com thing ?

I don't know of a good epoxy, but you could put a small pan containing a pump, and just pump but into your motor. JUst kidding but it would be cheaper than new cases. Regretfully Yours, Dave
