I'll second that periodic cleaning routine after my front brake problems early in the year. It all starting with burying an allready dirty caliper in a mud hole. Whoa was me. Criswell jimsherlock wrote:

What years fit what years. Will an 86 KLR600 protector fit a 2001 KLR650? Vice-versa? THey're out there, but what'll fit what. millerized

I wish, oh how I wish, that KX, KLX, and KDX parts fit our KLR. Unfortunately due to the fact that all the above bikes have been continually redesigned and updated since 1975 (approximately when the KLR was designed), you'll be lucky to find screws that fit. Acerbis and UFO make front disc guards that might fit, but you're going to run into three problems, the KLR's disc size, lower stanchion diameter and brake caliper location. As we all know, the KxX series actually used real forks upfront... I think last year the KX's had RSU forks was '89, and the KLX's never had RSU's. The KDX continues to wear fatter and fatter RSU's, I think the latest incarnation has 48mm RSU's on it. I went and measured up all the disc protectors I could find locally (two different acerbis models and a UFO model) and all were designed for dirt size discs, 220-230mm in diameter. Perhaps the designs have changed. Can't hurt to check, I suppose. Z DC

When the religious right rants about school vouchers, remember this: There are Muslim private schools existing in the United States today exercising their religious rights by teaching hatred of Israel and the United States and repetition of the Koran, as opposed to more fundamental aspects of learning like reading, writing and arithmetic. The school voucher program would take money away from the secular public schools and give it to those who want to teach terrorism. Far fetched? Not really. Private schools are regulated by the states and in almost all cases that means little or no regulation at all. I do not want my tax money used to teach the Koran or any other religious (or terrorist) message. Thumbs down on school vouchers. And thumbs down on George W Bush and his BS fraud "war on terrorism". When the money trail points to Saudi Arabia (the Bush family's benefactors in their oil business), Dubya looks the other way. I can't control any of that until and if John McCain runs for President in the next election.
