My bike sounds like a boiling tea kettle went I shut it off after a
ride. It has done this from day one and tonight, in a quiet garage, I
was able to track the noise down to the gas cap. It seems that the
heat from the motor is causing the fumes in the tank to expand thus
causing a whistling noise to emanate from the cap. Anybody else
experience this? Is a vent line pinched? I am used to dirt bikes that
use a vent hose coming from the cap so this is a new one on me. On
the KLR you can hear the whistle, then open the cap and feel a rush
of air/fumes escape from the tank.

about the sheep skins
This is the Aerostitch sheep skin. I think the price has gone up a little since I bought mine, but in my opinion it's still worht it.

Aerostich Sheepskin Saddle Pads
Sheepskin cushions, cools and lets air circulate. When it's sticky hot, you'll sit cooler. And when it's freezing, sheepskin is warm and comfy. Between extremes it's always luxurious. Sheepskin has long been used by those who sit for extended periods because of how it cushions and vents. These are luxurious top grade sheepskins, laminated with an Aerostich-exclusive, non-skid 3/16" PVC foam mesh base, so they won't creep around on your saddle, even if you ride aggressively. They also won't hold or absorb much water. They're great on everything from dirt bikes to luxury baggers. Saddle sheepskin pads help you stay more comfortable, refreshed and alert on long rides. Both pads come with eight strategic bungee attachment points, two lengths of adjustable bungee, and four no-scratch nylon hooks for a custom installation. Use on a long trip and remove for daily urban riding....or just leave on all the time. Rectangle is 11" x 14.5", Tapered is 13" x 18".
