I just bought a used 2000 klr. The guy who had it before me was running
a synthetic oil. I am about to do my first oil change, and will be
running a non-synthetic oil. The guy seemed to think that going from
synthetic to non was a bad idea. Personally I don't think it will
matter. As long as the engine has some slippery molecules in there, I
don't think it cares what we call it. Could I be wrong on this, anyone
have any input on this?
Also, the bike did not come with an owners manual, and so I don't know
if I need a gasket to go on the oil filter cover.(does it have a gasket,
and if so is it re-usable). Does castrol 20w50 sound like a good oil
choice?
The bike also came with the stock windscreen as well as the taller
kawasaki wind screen. I am riding with the taller windscreen and a
partial face helmut. There is a lot of wind noise. If I squish myself
down about 3-4 inches it is much calmer and quieter. So I am wondering
what the best solution solution might be: a taller aftermarket
windscreen, or a full face helmet. Also, does the shorter srock
windscreen keep the wind lower and out of your face.
Does anyone know of a good non-leather riding pant that includes
hip-armor?
Would appreciate feedback on any or all of the above. Jeff
