Jim your input has been greatly helpful. I got some additional info from xactoman(Brad) as to location and what the part looks like. I'll be replacing this part ASAP! The relay has a trigger or control circuit that uses standard sized wire to operate the control circuit. Normally, the relay turns OFF when you remove power to the control circuit. Dollars to donuts, your main starter relay froze in the "ON" position. A heavy battery cable goes from the battery to the main starter relay, and then on to the starter motor. Normally when you release the starter button, this cuts power to the starter circuit relay which then cuts power to the control circuit of the main starter relay. You might have been able to free up the stuck relay by hitting the side of the relay sharply. If this doesn't work, the only way stop the starter motor is by disconnecting the positive cable that goes to the relay. A quicker way to do this is to remove the black relay cover above the side stand (& below the fuel petcock) and disconnect one of the thick cables on the relay. Try not to short either terminal to the frame while loosening one of the cables, sparks will fly. Disconnecting the negative cable could result in toasting your whole wire harness, if the small ground wire remains connected to the battery's negative terminal while this is happening, even if only for an instant. Do NOT try to re-use the relay, replace it ASAP. You need to trickle charge your battery with a 1 amp trickle charger for 12 - 24 hours ASAP. Don't use a charger with 2 or more amps, even if it tapers down to 1 amp, you might end up cooking your battery. A small m/c battery needs to be charged at a very slow rate over an extended time period. Be warned, battery acid & gases will give you relegious clothing, very hole-y.
