tire knobs keep pulling off

I've got a question for any tire experts out there- I'm 1000 miles from home on my way to AK and just noticed that my brand new Duro rear tire has a problem- the center knobs are tearing off at the base. At least 3/4 of the knobs are showing this, some are severe, very deep tears, the width of the knob and 1/4" or more deep. Haven't even gone off-road, except for 5 miles gravel road. Going to contact Dennis Kirk in the morning of course, but here's the part that concerns me- my last rear tire, a Kenda K270 was showing the same symptoms after 1000 mi. Before i pulled it. I ran both tires from 30-35 depending on load. Could it be driving habit, mechanical issues, or is it just plain and simple old cheap tires? The last thing I want is for my next set to have this same problem, and I notice it 300 miles north of Fairbanks. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. Ryan Bock A12 SF-Prudhoe Bay-Ushuaia

Be daring. Be different. Try a Maxxis C6006. Big knobs that really stick to the road, worth the extra $20. It's way superior.
