Been reading through the service manual last night and found a recommendation to change the carb jets if you live over 4,000ft. I live east of Salt Lake City (just short of 5,000ft) and my bike was originally purchased in Florida. Should I make the jet change? Will power or gas mileage improve significantly? Guy KLR650 A13

Guy, That's surprising to hear about the rejet recommendation. I often ride between 2500 ft (Tucson) and 8000+ ft (Mt Lemmon). Never notice any performance differences. -Bryan A12 Tucson

The service manual (supplement for KLR650/500) actually says it's an EPA recommended/approved (requires the "installation" of a special sticker as well) change that will improve emissions. I should have mentioned my bike runs just fine, I was just wondering if this change is worth making (as in improve mileage or power). Guy
