Just an observation, correct me if I am wrong! I have seen alot of
advice about white, brown and black as far as plug color goes. From
my experience (also suggested by the folks at Dynojet) you will never
get a good brown color with todays unleaded fuels. I tried endlessly
to get a good brown color after putting in a Dynojet kit in my DR650.
My plugs were either coated with carbon or anywhere between white and
charcoal in color. I could NEVER get a brown color, no matter what
adjustments I made. After talking to several shops and finally
calling Dynojet they have all suggested that a grayish white is what
you will typically get now. (Because of the Unleaded fuel and
additives)I am curious if any of you have had similar observations or
not.

I think that the inability to get textbook-perfect plug color in a KLR has
more to do with carb metering accuracy (or lack thereof) and the fact that
our thumper engines are dirty little pigs. They also consume oil (which
leaves combustion-chamber deposits).
Two previous cars of mine had fantastic-looking plugs. The last one I
didn't keep long enough to ever see a plug.
