For those that have had the balancer chain assembly apart. How many full (360 degree) turns of the balancer lock bolt is safe before it lets go and a billion pieces fall apart into the crankcase? Sometimes turning out 2 turns then tight again doesn't feel like enough.
Thanks

West,
I have observed/done the adjustment with the left side cover off - one full
turn (360 degrees) is plenty sufficient for the lever inside to be activated
by the spring and move to its new adjustment point.

Richard,
Thank you very kindly for the post. I have been using Elden Carl's method. I am very happy to have your observation.

I always use one 360 turn and the same method as Eldon, works for me.

Hey all. I adjusted my balancer "thingy" today, and after i was done the bike seemed to produce a very slight buzz near that area(and it aint killer bees). Now I am worried that I messed something up. I followed good directions, but i didnt use a torque wrench, i winged it. Should I adjust it again? Any advice is appreciated. PS:: I have done this procedure before, and i have never gotten this strange sound. Thanks, Ian aka Maniac A7

I was wondering about replacement body parts and gas tanks with more
capacity that are plastic. Are there any companies out there that
make replacement tanks for the KLR and replacement body parts
(different colors)?
