Subject: [DSN_klr650] Throttle Lock
I would like to buy a throttle lock for my klr 650. Does anyone in the
group have any experience with throttle locks. Thanks

I ended up going with the Universal Mount Vista Cruise. It costs about
$35 but works perfectly. Fred Hink sells them. I mounted mine very
quickly and like the way it works. No drilling or filing, etc.. I have
a set of digital pictures I would be glad to send you if you like. It
holds the throttle perfectly at all times. Very neat.
I'd be glad to write a 1 page document with the pictures and send to
anyone who wants it. Due to the mild "vibes" from my KLR, I think
a throttle lock is a necessary item.
IMHO the NEP unit is a piece of cheap s**t. The standard Vista Cruise
is fine but requires drilling.

Geeze, I wouldn't be that tough on the lowly NEP. It's half the
price
of the Vista and works perfectly. Never failed me in 20+K miles.

I purchased a "Wrist Rest" from
www.ratracecycle.com for my Cagiva Gran
Canyon and it works great. His service was excellent, I called on Tuesday
and he made a custom one for my bike with a couple easy measurements I gave
him, he shipped it on Wednesday and I had it Friday. I installed it and left
on a trip for a week. I rode 2700 miles and it was easy to use and works
excellent.
It is CNC machined out stainless steel and aluminum and the cost was $62
plus shipping.
He doesn't have a model specifically for the KLR but I am sure he could make
one to fit.
A lot of BMW riders use this same item.

Another nail in the coffin of general aviation (especially Cessna &
Piper) was, for instance, the pilot of a 40 yr old plane has the seat
adjuster fail on takeoff and he slides back into oblivion. The
relatives manage to successfully sue the manufacturers into
bankruptcy.
