name that symptom...
Jim, and others...
Thanks to a couple of you for putting your $.02 in. So far I have a couple
of suggestions that I start checking around my chain/countershaft area. Good
idea, next on my list of things to do. But I'll tell you why I didn't jump
to figuring that automatically--it's because it *seems* to be dependent upon
RPM, not on wheelspeed, and it seems to happen at about the same RPM in at
least two different gears. That said, I'm going to go work over my chain.
Inswer to the question about bolts loosening, yes, some did loosen, in spite
of my best efforts to keep on top of it. I've also dramatically overstressed
the footpeg bracket bosses on the frame--in the right one, an attempt to
replace the bolts post-ride netted me one stripped hole and one busted-loose
captured nut. It's off to the fabricators!
Thanks again all, I'll entertain more ideas and check on those that I have,
and try to report back if/when I find definitively what's up.
Best
Scott Squire
