Have had my klr650 for about six months not and am considering
upgrading to Laser Pro Duro exhaust and Avon Distanzia AM43/44 (next
size up) tires.
Anyone out there do these upgrades - if so, any suggestions,
comments, etc.
I was not planning on initially rejetting, new filter, etc. unless
you got some words of wisdom on this.

If the pro-duro will work with stock jetting and stock airbox, try that
first. I have been experimenting with the carb a little, and found that
your fuel mileage goes down a lot faster than performance comes up.

I just ordered a set of Distanzias and will be putting them on when
they arrive. I'll post a review of them after a couple hundred miles.

I just had the dealer replace my worn stock tires with the Distanzia's.
They were great for the one day the roads were clear enough to ride, about
200 miles. I'm hoping to get a minimum of 6,000 miles on the rear, which
would get me to Utah / Colorado and back home to Massachusetts without a
tire change. Time will tell.

I have 3500 miles on my Distanzias. I can't even tell if they have worn. I
expect 10-15K out of them at least. They stick like glue on the pavement,
and do pretty good in the dirt if you lower the air pressure.

Wow, that's excellent news! My stock tires were worn as far as I'd care to
ride them at 3350. (Technically, they could have gone longer, but not with
ME on them!)
Thanks for the positive info,
Mark

The Distanzia's are the same compound as the gripsters, only a
different tread pattern and the distanzia is a radial.
Grip is about the same, less wobble when you're near the edge of the
tire.
Don't expect as much milage as the gripsters, the distanzia's
generate more heat and wear quicker.
Cheaper than the Metz Tourance, the distanzia's are a good pick. I
still like the Tourance the best though. Best on road grip so far.

Did the Gripster ever get above 10K miles on a KLR (rear tire)? I was
thinking they lasted at most 7-8K.

I am running the stock size Distanzia on the rear.
After 2000 miles the tire shows very little tread
wear. The Distanzia is not very good in sand, mud or
pea gravel IMO. It however is an excellent street
tire.
You will probably need to change the jetting if you
install the Laser Pro Duro. I ran the LPD with the
stock jetting, 2 turns out on the pilot, K&N air
filter and the stock air box for awhile with no
noticeable problems, but pulling the spark plug
revealed it was running lean. For reference, most of
my riding is at sea level.
If you elect to install a Dynojet kit, I can give you
some initial settings and you can dial in the jetting
from there.
