This sounds like a viable alternative, if you have a tank bag, and it's filled with enough stuff to support the unit. I don't have a tank bag so I don't know how easy it would be to set it up for easy reading. All I know is that the only way I was able to eliminate shutdown using the Ram Mount was by taking the batteries out and running it soley off of the KLR's power supply. I even taped the batteries together with black tape, and though doing that helped, it didn't completely aleviate the problem. I'm going to check with Garmin about the fix thay are offering. Brad J. I do not have or intend on getting any GPS unit, but depending on the battery cover I suspose, could'nt you add a small chunk of foam to hold the batterys tight in place ? I am thinking and it will show my age, but womens hair curler things used to have these little thin sheets of foam that wrapped around the curler, they could be used to wrap the the batteries or folded and laid ontop maybe. Just a "Still on the first cup of coffee" thought. Duden

OK... sometimes I spend the money to buy the best... sometimes I try and make do with what I have. Like my GPS mount system. It's a piece of old tube, put a split down 1/2 of it, then strap the GPS over the tach with some foam under it. Never falls off... I loop the lanyard around the handlebars just in case. Ryan... Check out the RAM mounts at: www.ram-mount.com I've installed one for my e-Trex... and it works VERY well - No vibration at all.. and even just using battery power...
