anyone tried a real windshield?

I just bought a 2002 KLR 650, and want to know if anyone has tried mounting a "real" windshield, such as a Plexifairing, etc. My bike will live probably 80% on pavement as a commuter bike, and occasionally on dirt or gravel roads, so I'm looking for some real protection from rain, bugs, etc. at 60-70 mph, and the stocker "fairing & shield" is a joke. Anyone have experience with something better? Ron Litton ronlitton@...

I recently got a Spitfire sheild from Slipstreamer. Unfortunately the stock mounting rods are way too short, so you have to lenghten them by about 4 inches. Otherwise it sits too low and at too much of an angle. But now that I made the adapter, I love it. The top sits at just below eye level. Works just fine at 70 mph. I can now ride with my face sheild open. Ryan

oil filter chamber

While back somebody had asked what everybodies oil filter chamber looked like, most responded that it was clean & machined. My A15 is machined up to where the filter sits, then its just cast. Machined where up to the "O" ring sits yes. Spent a couple hours just backing out fastners and adding Anti-Seize compound, and electrical grease where I felt like taking stuff apart. Gave it a oil change and fresh filter. Grandson was here so did'nt get the chance to try out my new Bike/ATV lift and pull the rear end and change the sprockets, but no hurry on that. Duden
