morning ride - be safe !

I almost got it this morning on my ride to work. Sitting at an
intersection (red light) waiting to turn left a couple of young kids
in a Beretta tried to make a left from the cross street. The kids
either tried to zip through or didn't see the oncoming Chevette. This
is a single lane road every one does 60mph on and the Chevette hit
the rear quarter-panel of the Beretta and spun it around 2 1/2 times,
missing me by inches. I was also showered by glass and almost
decapitated by the large plastic bumper shroud. The only words that
went through my mind were "OH F%#@" and it was over before I finished
the word "OH". There was nothing I could have done.
What saved me was the MSF course I took years ago. The thoughts still
fresh in my mind and the fact that I was well behind the white stop
line at the intersection. Being street smart, being safe. You don't
need to be moving to find the next cage idiot.
