bicycle panniers on klr nw rack?

I recently picked up a used Happy Trails Northwest rack but I'm getting sticker shock from the price of panniers! I have a perfectly good set of bicycle touring panniers (Super-C), however, made by these guys: www.carradice.co.uk and they would be great for use on the KLR (they're durable cotton duck). Anyway, the HappyTrails rack is wider in diameter than a Blackburn so my panniers won't fit. The panniers mount via a plastic piece which slides in along a metal strip on the bags themselves. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a replacement piece that would allow mounting to a larger (KLR) rack? I guess if I was handy I could fabricate something, but I'm not. In fact I already broke one of the plastic pieces while fiddling! I contacted Tim, but he didn't know a source, so I'm turning to the group. Perhaps a UK KLR rider knows a source? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
