I checked this bike out on the www.kawasakicanada.com site and wondered why it is so much heavier (370lbs) than the regular KLR 650 (337lbs). To me the 650 C looks a lot better than the regular KLR 650 but is comes with a smaller tank, less travel and a lot more weight. Anybody know why it is so heavy?

Hi, and welcome to the community! It's a fantastic bike, you'll love it! Check out Fred Hink's website at: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/fred/parts.html for a good idea of what is available for our KLR's. You can also Email him at: fred@... if you have a specific parts or accessories question. I don't think he's ever NOT had something I wanted. Here's a few relevant links that you may find useful, although it's by no means a complete list: +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Jay Duchin made a video of the job, and as I remember it, all the info you'll need is included. http://2wheelerjay.tripod.com/jaysworldofinvention/ The factory manuals are really your only choice, nobody else has them yet. You'd have to buy the base manual for a 1984 KLR600, and then the supplement for the year bike that you own; and then let the cross-referencing fun begin. There ARE a bunch of of great Internet links that should provide pretty much all the info you need, unless you really get into the nitty gritty of it. Check out: DSN tech Info: http://www.dualsportnews.com/klr/klrpage.html I compiled the info from Eldon and others to produce a valve adjustment guide for newbies that may be of some help to you at some point: http://klr6500.tripod.com/ http://klr6500.tripod.com/valves.html Another valve adjustment guide that is good for its numerous pictures is: http://www.finishlinewest.com/klr_650_valve_adjustment.htm For parts and accessories, most of us deal with Fred Hink for fast and reliable service: fred@... or his website: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/fred/parts.html Dave "Jake" Jakeman has stainless steel replacement bolts, and other stuff: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/sagebrush_machine_shop.html jake_sagebrush@... Dan "beirdo" Oaks has the KListerR stickers, and other stuff: bierdo@... ShimCalc Software is a fantastic tool for figuring out what valve shims you need to use to obtain the correct clearance: http://www.ironjungle.com/ Dual-Star has a great subframe bolt upgrade kit, in addition to other stuff: http://dual-star.com/KLR/For_KLR_650s.htm Wise men still seek Him...
