I'll be replacing the friction discs and springs in my clutch
in a couple weeks. Already have the discs, springs and
gaskets. I've done this several times on other bikes,
but are there any KLR specific tips I should know about ?
TIA

What year is your KLR? The later models have 8 fiction plates and the earlier models have 7. Some clutch kits only have 7 friction plates and if you have a late model KLR (after 95) you will need an extra friction plate.

Just be careful in aligning the water pump impeller shaft when you put the
side cover back on. It's easy to tear the oil seal (voice of experience).
Also this is a good time to pull out the oil screen and inspect for nasty
debris.

A kid from SLC did his tank with Bedliner: grey. Remember the rubber
sweetrolls they put on Triumph tanks? Same idea: SWEET!
