Diesel Bike Aims To Banish Petrol
M1030M1 Diesel-powered Motorcycle
In a world of diesel-fuelled military vehicles, planners may
have found a means of banishing petrol from the battlefield once and for
all.
The motorcycle has long been a problem to military forces as it
has always relied on simple, lightweight and high-powered petrol engines.
The battlefield motorcycle is used as a means of communication
and reconnaissance, but has created logistical problems for fighting forces
as they still have store, transport and provide petrol.
Now a-diesel-engined motorcycle prepares to challenge the status
quo - and eliminate petrol from the military supply chain.
The M1030M1 diesel-powered motorcyle is derived from a stock
Kawasaki KLR650, used by the US Marine Corps. It is thought that UK forces
will be forced to employ a similar system in the future.
Click here to see the M1030M1 put through its paces at a recent
demonstration in Chertsey organised by the UK Defence Procurement Agency.
