Sorry to say I haven't been involved in this list for a while. It's good to be back. This participants on this list have been extremely valuable over the last few years as I set up my KLR and subsequently road it into the ground. I have finally reconciled myself to the fact that I'm a 90/10 rider. 90% dirt / 10% street. I threw in the towel and bought a KLX 650. Mostly for my friends sake who complained to much about pulling the KLR out of the swamps, over the railroad tracks, logs, off of me, etc. I think the KLX will be a little more forgiving. Considering most of my riding buddies ride CR250s, XR400s, etc., they have been amazed that I've survived their regular rides through New England forests and the KLR. They also agree, after what they've seen me put this bike through, that the KLR is everything Kawasaki claims it to be. I love this bike!!!!! The good news is, I'm going to rebuild the KLR into a kick ass 50/50 dual sport again. The motor and suspension are already there thanks to you guys. I'm going to start with some new body parts and then go to new rims, tires, etc. I'd like to buy all new body parts, considering that no body part has gone unscathed. The question I have is this. The KLR is a 1997. I'd like to go with the 2000 graphics, which I beleive is the gray/green combo. Is the 2000 the gray/green and are the body parts interchangeable on the 1997? I also need some advice on where to buy the parts. I remember there was a site that offered all this stuff at a much lower price than going to a local Kawasaki dealer. Does anyone have the site address? I really appreciate the help and hopefully you guys aren't to upset that I've finally surrendered the KLR to a more tame riding environment.
