took my first ride on my previously overheating klr. checked out the
thermometer 35deg. oh well i wanna ride this bad boy , throw on a
snow suit, my new shoei, gloves , boots , neck warmer, im ready to go.
hit the start button and away i go , im impressed how quick and easy
i get up to highway speeds, no vibration, just a steady thump.
handling is very nimble . Looks like some strip mines, think ill head
in their, down a steep 12ft bank and up another, open streatch punch
it in 2nd gear swing the back end thru a sweeper, feels like 20yrs
ago mx raceing, well not quite.
better get back on the road again , after all my destination today
is home depot to try to find a rear box of some sort. 20 minutes
latter im at home depot checking out the tool boxs. I find this husky
brand alluminum box, i read about this on the forum ,people have said
they work well and for forty bucks ,cant go to wrong.I havent bolted
it up yet but just strapping it on it definatly looks way cool with
the polished diamond tread.
back on the road again, its still only about 40 degrees no sun and
things are getting cold after about 80miles. my hands are cold and
so is my upper body, I was considering putting grip heaters on and
now i know for sure that its a must. maybe a heated vest. I was just
thinking how enjoyable the ride home would have been if i would be
warm.
as with my street bikes i use a gps. I find it much more enjoyable
strees free to navigate with gps. simply select the city or place you
want to go , select the pointer arrow , select show miles to
destination, I am free to travel any road trail or whatever as long
as i continue in the general direction of the arrow, and also watch
the miles to destination decrease. Ive done this for years with my
road bike and seams i never take the same roads to get to my
destination, just follow the arrow though and you allways get their.
my choice of gps for the klr is the garmin vista very cool unit, and
i tried a new mounting system for the klr, the ram mt. this thing
is awsome , talk about solid , turn it twist it any way you want
then tighten and it up and it stays .go in a store , turn the knob
and throw it in your pocket, the vista is about half the bulk of the
3plus. and its got more features, very cool.
ok im gonna mount this toolbox , so any suggestions on staying
warm, or on mounting this box, fire them my way
thanks to all on this very informative forum, you guys are the bomb!
