Anybody have any good methods of polishing the plastic stuff on the
KLR. Some areas are slightly faded and I was wondering if it could be
freshened up.

I *think* faded is faded, and there's no going back. You might try toothpaste on a soft cloth, which should provide some abrasive cleaning action, but not so much that you'll have swirls and marks. It will almost certainly be a pain in the butt to do, but I think will provide better results than regular rubbing compound. When the bike is clean, I wax it, (metal and plastic), with the one wax I use for everything, Meguiar's. I use their regular paste wax, but their Quick Wax might be... you know... quicker.
