klr 650 versus dr 650 es

Post by redirkcor@yahoo.com » Wed Nov 21, 2001 6:49 pm

I'm new to this group and I've narrowed my decision down to these two bikes. I have checked both bikes out in the showrooms and am planning to buy this spring. Which one is better? I will be using the bike to do around town commuting, 200+ mile road trips, and dirt road/smooth trail exploring. My cons to the Suzuki are the lack of accessories and parts. My cons to the KLR are it is slightly taller and well, just looks old. I keep thinking they will come out with a new model. The DR is a newer design. Any opinions?

Hello, Welcome to the list (I'm a fairly new member too 10/20/2001). I think if you go back just a day or two you will find some great posts explaining the virutes of the KLR verses other DS bikes. I'm not familiar with the DR650ES but I'm sure that there are lots of opinions from people who are. Good luck, Brad J. Morris A16 in Illinois

Good question, dunno. The only time I hit a wombat, I was on my way back to civilisation. It probably would not have gone down well with the animal libbers to see a dead wombat tied to the handlebars as I trundled sorely back through town. I guess an emu might make a fair campfire feast. An aussie did hit one with his Guzzi once, but I don't recall any culinary revenge. Mister_T Melbourne Australia
