handlebar position

Has anyone rotated their handlebars forward in order to shift their sitting position a bit forward? I sat on a GS the other day and noticed that my weight was more evenly distributed between my feet on the pegs, my sit bones and my hands. On my KLR I sit far enough back that I seem to not have any weight on my hands, in fact it sometimes feels like I am pulling back on the bars. I am 6'2" and wonder if the stock setup could be adjusted....
Thanks for all the help on these questions that might be obvious to some.
