klr fork braces

Summers Racing Components is now making fork braces for the KLR so know you
have another choice.

Price is a low $199. I use the Happy trails fork brace and love it but have
heard the SRC is a good choice too.

I own a Happy Trails fork brace. Great piece of equipment.
Functional, fits perfectly, well made.
Personally, I like it a lot for on road high speed riding. My KLR
handles like a real road bike on the road. Progressive rear shock,
progressive springs up front, and a fork brace. My KLR isn't a
trailer queen, she gets road-ridden to the ride, off-roaded at the
ride, and gets road-ridden home. Just like Shozo intended.
Off road I can take it or leave it. Fork flex is OK offroad, I don't
need to feel every little rock and bump, just keep the throttle open
and go.
The high price for the HT isn't arbitrary, it's worth it.
As far as price, you pay peanuts, you bring home a monkey.
I reckon this holds true to a lot of motorcycling stuff, i.e. chains,
sprockets, jackets, boots, gloves, helmets. You can buy the cheapest
shit on the market, but that's what you have to live with.

Yep, same here except a full Progressive rear shock and a MAP rotor up
front. The Progressive springs, MAP rotor, and HT fork brace take the
KLR front end to a new level.

Interesting... I was bitching about spending a crap load of money on my KLX
front end conversion, but a rough cost estimate (using freds' prices) would
be the following:
MAP rotor $365
Progressive fr. springs $84
Happy Trails fork brace $200
SS front line $70
Race-Tech emulators $125
Galfer pads $40
Total $884
So it looks like if I were to put together a new front end package for the
KLR that was in the range of $800-$1200 people might be interested?

Grabbing the front end off a Tengai (if you can find one) may be the
least expensive option.
Tengai has:
Twin piston caliper
20mm larger rotor
stiffer, thicker-walled forks
just add Progressive springs, which can be found for $59.00 and you're all set!

I'm set up with a MAP rotor, gafler brake pads and lines, Progressive
springs up front with a Happy Trails fork brace and a Ohlins shock from
Kroon imports set up by Bob Bell/ Precision concepts. One smooth ride.Oh

If the rear engine mount is torqued down, the swingarm will not go back in
come hell or high water. Gotta take it loose first.
I'm now a member of the "assemble the thing then go back and torque the
bolts last" school of mechanics.
