I just finished putting the head back on my KLR and tightening everything down. It starts, it runs, no coolant or oil leaks - woo hoo! Now I just have to tighten down the head bolts again once it cools and I'm good to go. BTW, After initial reassembly the temp guage never breaks the halfway point. It used to go to the 3/4 point in a jiffy. I used distilled water and 6-7 capfulls of Water Wetter for coolant. Of course, I did just switch to a synthetic blend oil and that probably lowers friction, etc.. Keep on truckin'. Gerret A15 "Mj lnir"

Let us know how the temp gauge reads when your sitting at a stop light in 100 F. days?. My KLR wont hit the 1/2 way mark as long as Im moving, regardless of the outside temp. But as soon as I stop for more then about 2 miniutes the gauge hit's 3/4 and the fan kicks in. You should also check your coolant (WaterWetter & Water) often to see if it's doing a good job of fighting corrosion in the block and let us know what happens.

I use this stuff from REI that you rub on like a lotion. It dries to a power, then you buff it off. A near lifetime supply is $5 (I think) and it works great.
