I just purchased an A2, that has unacceptably low torque at clutch engagement speed up to about 3700 rpm. I suspect that the pilot jet (and perhaps the main jet) is too lean. Any advice as to better jetting? Thx, Don

I've got an A3 US version. Based on info from the net many moons ago, I switched to a KLX needle, changed the pilot to 40 from a 38, dropped the main to 142 from 148. That's right, the main was way too rich. The original poster recommended putting the needle on the third notch. My mileage dropped to 38mpg. I tried dropping the needle to the second notch (40mpg) then all the way down to the first (42mpg). There was a reduced throttle response when I went to the first notch, but none of the lean surging experienced with stock jetting. Low end (3-4k rpm) is much better than a stock '00 KLR I compared to this summer. No pinging with 87 octane even with the 142 main. Lately my mileage is suffering (down to 38) and the prime suspect is a leaky deceleration circuit diaphragm. If you've got an A2 yours may be getting old and cracked too. -Rick "Smith, Don TRAN:EX" on 08/20/2001 01:50:04 PM To: "'DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com'" DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com> cc: Subject: [DSN_klr650] A2 carb jetting I just purchased an A2, that has unacceptably low torque at clutch engagement speed up to about 3700 rpm. If I recall correctly, isn't the KLX stock main even leaner (138)? Mark B2 A2 A3

Yamaha will be rolling out the new TDM this year. It will be a 900cc with revised fairing and 24lbs lighter than the 850. Sadly, it won't be here in the USA. Story on www.motorcyclenews.com Gino
