differences between 2000 and 2001

I was just wondering if there was any difference between the 2000 KLR
and the 2001. Unfortunately, since I am such a talented rider my KLR
has been on the ground more times then I want to admit to. I have
found replacement plastic for the 2000 at Dual Star and was wondering
if it was all the same.
I guess I will also wait before I purchase anything from Dual Star
since they seem to enjoy spreading everyone's data around.
Thanks
Stephen

Stephen,
The only plastic that is different is the radiator shrouds and side
panels. The shrouds partly match the silver tank on the 2001 with
yellow lettering. The 2000 shrouds are pure green with purple
lettering. You can't get the side panels from Dual-Star. The
handguards and fairing are the same.

The first time the engine is started is the best time for it to have
synthetic oil. The claim synthetic oil interferes with break in is a
Modern Urban Myth.
But in the real world I usually wait until I get the new vehicle home
before putting Mobil-1 in it. In 1993 my Infiniti G20 came from the
dealer with Castrol Syntec. Was told that was part of that dealer's
standard prep of the car off the truck before it was presented to
potential customers. Had to put Mobil-1 in the Toyota and GMC myself.

All it takes is once or twice to f**k up a nice bike.
Two counts against me: 1) hitting a black labrador at
midnight, 2) getting hit by an XT600 on the White Rim.
I would enter it in a "Rat Bike" competition, but it's
not a Harley.
"Swede" - thought about Happy Trail's radiator guards,
but figured they'd do little good, since my knee takes
care of that job.
