2002 available when?

Hello, this is my first post to the group. I'm seriously considering buying a 2002 KLR650. I have a 70 mile round trip daily commute on country roads. The occassional rough stuff will beat me up on the nighthawk if I'm not careful. I've checked a couple dealers, and they are both unable to tell me when they will have 2002's. One said they had no idea...sorry, and the other said very positively not before September, possibly October. From what I've seen on the net, they should be available the first or second week of July? Is it a regional thing, or just idiot dealers? (I'm in Ohio, but I think I know the answer.) Does anyone know if there are pics of the 2002 out on the net yet? Thanks, Jonathan

Right on! The dealership right by me still has TWO 2000 KLR650's. I think I'll wait until the 2002's are out and then offer them about $4000 for one of their 2000's. That all OD green scheme is @#$%^&* awful, but then, who's going to see it? HOUSTON KAWASAKI 5802 SOUTHWEST FWY HOUSTON, TX 77057 Phone: (713) 783-3844 Fax: (713) 783-3905 Gerret Future KLR owner

In my dealer in Phx yesterday and they had a 02 Connie on the floor, so the KLR's should be very close. There were some great sale prices on some 01 models ($3,250 for a new KLR250). Jett

Am doubly sorry to hear that you are having to sell your steeds. Will your injury get better, or are you stuck with it for life? Just me talking, but I would hold on to the KLR for a while, unless you know for sure that your knee won't heal any further. If that is the case, look into a cruiser. I've read a lot of your posts and I am sure you will not be happy without a bike. Most of the cruisers I have seen lately have a fairly relaxed seating position with very little knee bending, unless you are extremely tall. Just an idea. Hope you get better soon, very sorry to hear of your predicament. Jim Sherlock Austin, Texas

Kawasaki's PR says the 2002 KLR will be an "early release", but they don't say what that means with regard to a bike showing up at your local dealer's. I uploaded two .jpg's to the files section so you can start salivating (if you like silver). __Arden Kysely
