[dsn_klr650] question

Post by Chris » Sun Jul 15, 2001 10:05 pm

It sounds like a KLR 650 is for you. I have a y2k 650, my previous bike was a Seca 650 (four cyle, 5 spd, oil cooled). I love my KLR although it may get me into trouble soon as one thing about it is that the bike simply begs you to take it off road. :) I use mine mainly for road use and it's great, much better than the seca in terms of stability and mileage. My only complaint is that it does not accelerate like the Seca. My gf and I ride it for afternoon rides all the time and we are comfortable. She likes riding on the back of it better than my dad's Venture 1200. (I'm 5'11 and she's 5'3) The reliability of this bike seems excellent and it also seems to be very simple to work on, everything is exposed and there are no sycronization issues. I've had mine for only a short time though... My only other complaint is that it's a little rattely. When I bought it I took it 200 miles to my home and had to buy some "zip ties" on the way because the bolts that hold the butterfly ferring had rattled loose. I also had to tighten the screws on the muffler guard. All in all, I rate it an 7 out of 10. I will be adding steel braided lines, a jet kit and k&n air filter in the near future. Chris.
