Well, admitting you have (had) a problem is the first step.........
Funny thing is, the Civic I replaced it with has 2.5 times the horsepower,
and gets the same mileage!

I was watching my tach this last Sunday to see how mine came out. At 5k I was
traveling approximately 70 mph. At 4.5k I was traveling at approximately 65
mph. At 4k I was traveling at about 58-60 mph. I say approximate because it
seems that almost all the KLR tachs and speedo's read different. My bike is
wearing the stock sprockets. And for shoes it is wearing a pair of Pirelli
M-70's. Don't really know what this will mean to you, just thought I'd share.

Sorry Steve, you can't remove the stickers without removing the clear coat.
And, if you do that, you might as well have the tank powder coated, or
painted, your preference. The stickers come of the plastic fairly easily,
just leave them in the sun for a few hours and you'll be able to peel them
away. I have removed all of my stock stickers, plus I went with a IMS
military tank so no funky looking KLR graphics on my tank. (Not intended to
offend any listers that like the graphics)

If you have ever used Chevron gasoline, or their affiliates, then you have
used Techron. (I believe they call it Techroline) I almost exclusively use
Cheveron and I have had zip/zero gasket problems. Other than my exhaust port
gasket being incorrectly installed. If you want to do it yourself, then I
would recommend that you get the plainest gas you can find and follow the
mixture instructions to the "T". Heck, why not just go to your local small
airplane airport and fill up on 110 octane fuel.

)) Just kidding, we
used to do that back in the 70's and 80's. Had a friend that worked the pumps
at Montgomery field in San Diego. Two strokes like the RD400's loved the
stuff. The four strokes showed some power improvement, but not enough to do
it all the time. Not to mention the fact that your engine isn't designed for
that high of octane fuel.
