I've been biting my tongue reading about sargeant seats. I own a '97
cbr1100xx blackbird that had the typical hard honda seat. My butt is
bony, and the seat made it hurt. So, to save money, I tried sargeant.
Took pictures of me seated on bike, made actual inseam measurements,
carefully described that I wanted a wider seat to spread out the
weight (175 lbs.) Described the pressure points, asked for softer foam
etc. etc. Shipped it all off to a guy named bill. Then I called him to
see if read it before the seat got redone. All was going as planned.
Then I got it back and tried it out. It was actually worse. I called
to complain that they had ignored instructions. His reply, "We don't
make Corbin Canyons" but he said to send it back and he would see what
he could do. Sent it back, waited a couple of weeks and here it came
again. Didn't see or feel any difference. Don't think they did
anything at all the second time. Then comes Bike Week and all the
vendors in front of the racetrack included Corbin. Corbin had a
Blackbird on display with one of their seats attached. Plopped my
skinny butt up on it and bought one. Parked the sargeant and have
nothing good to say about them and everything good to say about
Corbin. That was about 6,000 miles ago. Long trips don't hurt anymore.
Corbin makes their own seatpans (lower than stock) and seargeant just
re-pads and recovers the one you send them.
For Sale - Stock Blackbird Seat re-done by sargeant, best offer.
