Coming back up for air for a moment.
I'm going to order a Corbin seat in the next day or two (with no dip or dish), but I'm
still trying to decide on what to cover it with. My first thought is carbon fiber leather
with a yellow welt (to match the splash graphics and my yellow Tim racks). My
second thought is basketweave with the yellow welt. Any advice?

(my wife's computer had a hard drive crash, the e-mail accounts have been
configured for her on my computer, so the yahoo is what I get for e-mail these days.
If you haven't backed up your computer lately, do so tonight!)

I have the word on upholstery from a friend of mine who is a top
notch craftsperson. She says (and I don't doubt her logic) that when
Corbin makes a seat dished like they do out of basketweave material
they have to heat it to get it to conform to the desired shape. This
stresses the material and causes it to crack prematurely. The
basketweave vinyl is particularly prone to this little bit of pre-
aging.
The basketweave seats I have had have cracked prematurely. I would
use a smooth vinyl to maximize longevity, being as how the Corbins
are so expensive to begin with.
