warm weather jacket recommendations

Hello listers,
Looking for recommendations on a riding jacket. I have looked at the
Aerostitch jackets and the price is a bit steep. I do like the armor as well
as the bright yellow ballistic fabric they offer. I am in New Mexico and
need a relatively cool jacket for the large majority of my riding.
Any options out there that are relatively cool and offer the protection and
the bright yellow of the Aerostitch?
TIA

Pretty tough to get it all in one package...Fireball and Slide are preparing
comprehensive reports on Aerostich Darien (the coolest and warmest they offer);
Motoport and others.
Probably the least expensive with good support from the list is First gear
Kilamanjaro...still going to set you back 1/2 a markie though...

I've been eyeing some of the Joe Rocket stuff out there. Looks
pretty good and seems to have the quality to match. They even have
options on the type of pads you can put in, I think.

I ride the Motoport Ultra (uncoated) Cordura in Florida all year
round. It breathes well, and has an internal thermal and moisture
liner for more extreme conditions. I've ridden it in sub-freezing
conditions, as well as 106 degree days in west Texas and New Mexico,
and it is comfortable. I even rode it around the White Rim, where it
made contact with a number of rocks without incident.
Motoport also makes the Canyon jacket - it's less expensive and has a
3% coating on its Cordura nylon so that it will breathe better in hot
weather, compared to the Aerostich with 20% coating on its fabric.
I believe the denier weave weight on the Kilamanjaro is substantially
less than either Motoport or Stich, and it is coated. Don't know how
it stacks up in real hot weather.

Oddly enough, I did something just like this when working on my Nova
once. Had the rear wheels up on ramps, got in the car to drive it off
of them, and forgot that I chocked the front wheels. Squirted the ramps
right out the back!
I didn't have a beer at the time...
