My father bought a 57 chevy Bel Air in 1957. When I was 16 he gave it to me. I planed on being the terror of the town and started taking it apart to fix it. It's still in pieces. My other car was a 69 vette.

I used to be into muscle cars. Still have a 1964 Chev 409, two Superbirds, 1968 Hemi RoadRunner, plus a lot of needs works stuff. Hope to get interested in them again when I retire. I discovered fast motorcycles late in life. Harry Thames South Carolina

I discovered motorcycles early. It saved me from being interested in cars much. Trucks I was into for a while, being into contractor rigs and my 4x4s, but cars? Never. Bill owns one, and even drove it today (shopping day).

I didn't have a muscle car as such, it was a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Custom Hardtop Sedan (according to an original brochure I had). Most people wouldn't call it a classic, but it was mine. The 430 cube motor did go nicely, and the four-piston front calipers were a nice touch, too, and the only year that had those calipers. Another reason to like it was that it was bigger than a 1969 Caddy. Mister_T Melbourne Australia

Hi Ron Yeah you've got to be a little crazy to like V8s in the UK,although the currant trend is to convert them to run on low propane gas[lpg]'which is half the price of unleaded here, still not as cheap as the US though Regards Gary

I get paranoid if the price of gas here gets to $1.40 a gallon when I fill up my Suburban. Warms my heart to see that most of us started out with POS shot rods, lovingly maintained in semi-running condition with any resource but money. That's how I "got learned" to wrench. Makes me wonder if the young 'uns I see tooling around nowadays in new Volkshonda Civicpassats are picking up any skills besides installing double-sided sticky tape accessories. Chuck, Colo.
