It looks like my KLR650 riding is going to be more street than dirt
(80/20 at least), and it appears the stock 2001 tires go away very
rapidly whilst street riding. I have been told that either the Metz
or Mich offer better street performance and durability - does anyone
have experience with either?
Thanks,
Don

Metezler Enduro 4 is my choice of 90/10 Street/dirt.
So far with the Metz I can see I will be getting 10 to 15k out of it. Great wet pavment traction and powerslides really well in the mud. ;^)

Don't forget the old favorite: The Avon Gripster AM24. Search the
list archive for info.

I was just logging on to raise a Tourance question. How
fortunate there was already a thread going!
My local shop is going to order the Tourance's for me, and it
looks like there's no problem with size. But I just got e-mail from
MAW where I'd written for a price quote, and they claim there's
not a size that fits the KLR. Is this really an issue? Or is it just
that you have to use a tubeless tire with a tube that's upsetting
them?
Thanks
Ralph

Just purchased a set from MAW:
130/80H17
90/90H21
tubes: can't rember the exact items ordered?
300/325-21
130/70-17
As far as I have been told you can use these on the KLR
as long as you keep the speed below 140mph

Gotta be *blinders-on* thinking. It is designed as a tubeless, but our rims are not... What does that say to you?
I have been running tubeless with tubes for some time now, I see no problem. Yet.
The Tourance does come in the correct dimensions though.

Isn't the Tourance a radial?

Yes, it is. I know that there are several people on the list using them, including
Punky&Lew. I ordered mine today from the local shop.
Thanks to everyone with their feedback. I appreciate it.

My R1100GS came with T-66's. Very nice tire on the road and decent on
gravel. They lasted about 4K but I rode it pretty hard on the twisties.
