Hi list. Now that I got your attention with a stupid subject line. Does anyone on the list own a 1996 or higher KLR (with the big nut front sprocket)and a boat with a Mercruiser outdrive on it? I am sure you are asking what is he getting at. I changed out my front sprocket yesterday and noticed the nut/thread size to be very similar to the prop nut on Mercruiser outdrives. Now you are probably asking, why doesn't he just get a nut and how does he know this. 1. There are no marinas/marine supply stores near me. 2. I spent many years working at my Dad's marina and one thing I had to do was change a ton of props. Weekend warriors are really good at hitting things in shallow water. So what I am getting at is the nut on the Merc outdrive is a large one with a nylon locking insert. I have a hunch it would fit. I am hoping someone would be so kind as to be a guinea pig and try it out. Any takers? Thanks, Robb '00KLR650 P.S. Travis Pastrana won the 125 SX in Indy last night. Carmichael won the 250 SX main. Yeah!!!
