Hi, Is your petrol octane RON or MON or avareaged like here in the USA? US anti knock Index 87 = RON 91 octane, just another set of different tons/tonnes/short ton/long ton etc. (BG) Here is a thought (derived from aviation). The colder fuel is the more pounds you get per gallon and as the engine burns a fuel density ratio you should get better range with colder fuel as you can get more fuel in the tank density wise !!!!??????. I remember a Quantas 747-400 doing the first non stop London Sydney flight when they filled it with the coldest fuel possible then topped off before take off! On a 747-200 the difference in max fuel is 318,000 lbs at 6.17 to 371,200 lbs at 7.1 which equates to about 2 hrs flying. I expect in a KLR maybe 1/2 mile difference (LALROF). Brad, I've owned a Concours for about 5 years now...have riden the bike from Illinois to Nova Scotia, as well as other long hauls. I agree with previous responses that the vibration thing is definitely over-rated, although there may be some isolated cases. I'am 5'8" and a couple of first mods. I made were to install the storz handlebar conversion (stock form-long reach to bars, provides for more upright seating position) along with gen-mar risers and also gen-mar lowering kit for the footpegs. My only complaints are the bike being a bit top heavy (notice at low speeds) and also can be a warm ride (dependant on humidity) when ambient temp. gets above 85 to 90 degrees. I've considered replacing it at times...but the bottom line is...after a few years the bike grows on you and its hard to sell it. Also I believe there are some aftermarket deflector's available, which mount to the lower fairing on each side of the gas tank which help with hot weather riding. Take care, Joe 95 Connie 36K A13-KLR 4.5K
