nklr - fuel injection/cannondale

Seat is hard, but I only ride the bike in the dirt. I like the seat for that style of riding, since your moving around a lot, and up on the pegs quite often. If I made it a dual sport for touring, I would change the seat. But I have a KLR for that, and have no intentions of that for the Honda. In my opinion it would make a lousy DS bike for three reasons., too light, too loud, too "racey". As for power, with the performace package installed, which is mandatory if you want the bike to run the way it was designed to, it is much faster than a KLR for two reasons, power and weight. It is water cooled but has no fan. It does have some overheating problems when new because the engine is tight, if you ride it slow, or let it idle for long. Some of them had bad thermostats as well. I just removed mine, which the XR list recommeded. I have been very pleased with mine, although starting it cold can be some work (no electric start). If you want to learn more about it go to Fred's XR650R list on egroups. http://www.egroups.com/community/XR650R Russel'r
