tank shrouds or new tank?

I recently had a slight trail riding mishap with a small tree and tore the
left shroud off my bike. I think it had something to do with the 28 deg.
weather we were riding in this weekend up here in New England (who says
riding season is over). The plastic was probably very brittle and when the
tree caught it, it just snapped. The tank is still in perfect shape.
Has anyone recently purchased a new shroud, or a pair of shrouds, and could
you give me an idea of what I'm looking at for cost? Is anyone aware of any
aftermarket plastic replacements? The other option I was considering was
replacing the tank. I saw a picture of a military KLR that looked like it
had a tank with built in shrouds. Does anyone know if that tank is available
to the average Joe and if so from who?
As always, thanks for the help.

Go to
www.buykawasaki.com to get a part number then call a dealer. I don't know the current price for them. I do know that Dual Star has some of those. (Am I right list?) Saludos Juan

Hi Bob: Look up
www.dual-star.com. I don't know what year/color your KLR is,
but they are advertising cheap new takeoff 2000/2001 body parts. You can get
a complete set of '01 plastic body parts for $500 including the new silver
tank and a seat cover, if I remember right. Check it out.

I bought a right side shroud in August through the local Kawasaki
dealer and it was $95. Made me a lot more careful.

I paid 49.70 for the shroud p/n 49089-1073-59 (blu/grn color '96-'99) and
22.56 (ouch) for the decal p/n 56061-1488 ('98 graphics) from my local
Kaw dealer. No aftermarket for these that I know of.

Below is my E-mail(s) to and from IMS about their fuel tanks. It
should tell you what you want to know
Our 113121 tank is available in G2 green, G3 translucent green (not
shown on
our web site,) W1 white, and N1 natural (translucent white.) If you
really
want to be able to see the fuel level in your tank, you'll need to go
with
either the G3 or N1 tank. Be forewarned, however, the N1 tanks tend
to turn
yellow with age.You can apply stickers to our tanks.
You can certainly fax your order, and we do accept Visa.

Thank you for responding to my E-mail. I have a few more questions.
1) On your web site you have 2 greens listed for fuel tanks, G1 and
G2.
Which one is used for the KLR tank #113121?
2) Is the white or green color transparent enough to see the level of
fuel
in the tank?3) Can sticker be applyed to the tank, or will the come
off to easy?
4) Can I fax my order to you at 909 653 1060, and do you take
VISA?Thanks

Some may know Idaho Bob from Boise. He got a great deal.. $3k USD for
a '98 with Corbin seat only 900 miles. Another Concours rider on a KLR
too. Best bang for the buck times two.
