Stuart,
Do you have a journal of your trips up north available on the internet?
Sounds like a very interesting trip!

The latest story hasn't been posted yet - I rode two
roundtrips between Florida and Alaska (29,000 miles) during
the 1999 and 2000 summer seasons.
There is an old story at
www.dualsport.org/alaska/index.html
that just deals with the first 6500 mile leg in May 1999
from south Florida to Prudhoe Bay. Things improved after
that shakedown .
If you check back in a week or two I'll have something
posted regarding the overall trip - some of the info will
incorporate the old material.

Stuart,
Great story! When are you going to come up the east coast, pick me up, and
do Canada east to west! I haven't bought a KLR yet, but I'll have one before
next spring. Although, I might use one of the other bikes for a trip such as
this.
A trip I plan on taking is cross country to Seattle, ferry up the inside
passage to Anchorage and then back down through Canada, Montana and Wyoming.
A fellow on the BMW list did this trip. Great reading also!

I would definitely hook up with you for at least the ride up through New
England and eastern Canada. I'm pushing 50 and although I did a ton of
riding in my teens and early twenties, I stopped riding while raising a
family for the past 20 years. I got back into it "big time" this past
summer. This coming summer will be a time for touring!
When you have more definite dates. give me a post and we'll plan on meeting
somewhere up here.

These cans are very nice for this application in many respects.
However, you may be surprised how little room there is inside them. Those
ribbed walls are rather thick.

To me, it goes like this:
Bash Plate (I like my Moose)
Seat ( I like my Corbin, but thats a matter of taste)
Braided Brake Line (have a Russell, it works)
MAP Engineering Front Brake Rotor (Expensive, but darned well worth it)
