rpm at highway speed

Hello KLR650 enthusiasts,
I've read the 650 motor just chugs along on the highway. Does anyone know
what the actual RPM of KLR650 is at 55, 65, and 75 MPH, when in high gear
and with stock front and rear sprockets?
Also, on the matter of wheelies, is it just a matter of twisting the
throttle, or does one work the clutch, too, to pop one?
Thanks,
CB

My A15 runs at around:
4000 RPM = 62 MPH
5000 RPM= 76 MPH
I have no idea what 55 MPH would be for the RPM range. I just don't look down
at the Tach at that speed.

Hope this helps.

My wheelies improved 100% when i installed the 16T front
sprocket,
A little yank in 1st and a little clutch in 2nd, I have shifted all the way
into 4th on one wheelie, But i perfer to use 2nd gear and just hit the balane
point,,,,
The old SP 600 and the XL600 were a lot better at wheelies than the KLR 650

Please refer to Harry Thames' post on "Push Starting" the KLR, sent 10/16 .
Or, you can just rev her up to 5500 or so in neutral and boot her in first gear. Guaranteed to produce a wheelie with ANY bike, and some cars, too. James in S.C.
P.S. If your name isn't already Christian, this method can make one out of you, too.

Yep, I have the Tourmaster Cortech pants for summer riding and used
them for my trip to Sturgis last summer. They did everything I
expected them to. I wore shorts underneath and they came off in a
flash when stopped for gas or luch. Reasonably water proof,
althought it was so freakin hot, I didn't care if I got wet.
