clutch/shifting

After initially warming up my KLR650, I pull in the clutch and as I place it in first gear, it has a tendency to lurch forward ever so slightly for just a moment. This only occures with the initial start, after this it seems to be very smooth when changed from neutral to first. I thought that after my 500 mile tune this would change, but it did it again this afternoon. It was 70 degrees out and I let it come up to normal riding temp before starting. It is a 2001 with about 550 miles on it. It did not start doing this until about 350 miles. The mechanic said that it was just not warmed up yet considering that it was fall and cooler weather. I doubt this explaination as I do warm is up and it did not do it when I first bought the bike. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you in advance for your thoughts and experience, Dan

Hmmmmmmmmmm How many times have we heard about this mysterious glitch? Where's Grog? He would know the correct answer. Backroad Bill Closed the deal on the Bandit a half hour ago, going to pick it up on his way to coffee in the morning. Yes!

I have had good luck by starting the motor, pull in the clutch, and rev the motor a few times before shifting into first. It helps loosen things up, and it dosent jerk when I put it in first. MotorMark

Dear everybody - Now this is what the internet is all about!!! I posted a request for a KLR Wiring diagram last night at 9PM, wake up, come to work and sure enough there are three e-mails with wiring diagrams attached. This friggin' rocks!!! I couldn't have pulled off getting the shop manual or the diagram in less time if it was Saturday and I had all dayto do it. I think I'm going to buy the manual eventually anyway so if anybody needs pages or paragraphs sent to them I can do that soon Hats off, Gentlemen. Wishing I was riding instead of doing Photoshop. BK
